Special Dates

HBA Night

Friday, Jan 25th at 7:15 pm.  HBA Night is one of the highlights of the season.  This consists of a halftime performance at a high school varsity game plus an opportunity for the kids to meet the varsity players after the game.

  • Halftime performance for all grades
  • Post-game poster signing and meet the team
  • Free admission for all In-House participants, just wear your jersey

The varsity game will start at 7:15 pm at the high school east gym.  Please have your player wear their jersey and bring their basketball.  They will get in for free.

When there are 2 minutes left in the 1st half, please walk them down to the hallway to the right of the restrooms.  The coaches will be there to line them up.  This is where you can meet your child after the performance.

The performance will face the east side of the gym, so seating behind the team benches and scorers table is recommended.

Please hold onto your child's basketball outside of the time they need it for the performance.

Picture Day - Nov 16th

Capture it Now will take individual and team photos of your basketball players.  Photos are on Saturday, Nov 16th.  Once the photos are ready for viewing, you will receive an email that your child's private gallery of photos are ready for viewing and purchasing.  Orders will be mailed directly.

In-House Philosophy

The HBA offers an in-house basketball program for girls in Pre-Kindergarten through 4th grade. The in-house basketball program is designed for girls to learn and improve fundamental basketball skills while having FUN!

The HBA will be utilizing USA Basketball’s Youth training guide principles when working with the girls in the program. Below you will see the overall vision for the girls and what the HBA wants to accomplish.

Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd grade -  Introductory Skills & Drills

Learn fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills. Participation once or twice per week in basketball but daily participation in other sport activity is essential for further excellence. Group skill competitions recommended throughout the level. Introduction to team principles/concepts ONLY; avoid actual 5x5 competition until fundamentals are further developed.

3rd through 4th grade - Foundational Skills & Drills

Learn all fundamental and basic basketball-specific skills, establish building blocks for overall basketball skills. 70% of time is spent on individual fundamental training and only 30% of the time is spent on actual game competition. Teach position concepts, but DO NOT assign player positions at any point in the level. Divide actual competition between special games (1x1, 2x2, 3x3, skill games) and 5x5 play, trying not to focus on actual 5x5 competition until later in the level.

While many 4th grade girls choose to join a traveling basketball team. Some girls prefer to continue playing basketball through the in-house program for a variety of reasons. The in-house program provides them the opportunity to continue playing basketball in an organized program.
